Shepherd's Hand Auction

The 2025 auction's ad.

Our annual Shepherd's Hand Auction/Supper is held as an online auction hosted as a website by a local auctioneering company. The auction items are donated to us throughout the year and stored awaiting the auction. The auction is usually available for 5 nights for you yo bid on the items you would like to win. For a couple of days at the completion of the auction the winning items can be picked up from the church's social hall.
This past year(2025) the auction raised almost $9,000 for our ministry.

Christmas Program

One of the highlights of the Christmas season is the Mt. Zion Christmas Program. This program is presented by the Sunday School members. It is truly an event that helps us remember the true meaning of Christmas.

Vacation Bible School

Vacation Bible School for children and adults is held on 4 consecutive nights during June or July with this year's' being held from July 21 - July 24. It is scheduled based on the availabilty of the adults needed to lead the event.
This year's bible school theme was

Trusting Jesus in a wild world.

Children took a journey north thru Alaska wilderness to discover that they can trust Jesus in this wild world.

Jesus is their guiding light.

Homecoming

Each 3rd Sunday in August, Mt. Zion invites any and all current and prior friends to visit us during our annual Homecoming. The worship service is followed by the much anticipated covered-dish lunch with plenty of time to visit with old friends.

Quilts

An energetic group of Mt. Zion ladies spend about 1 day a week making quilts.
Quilts are given as a "special" gift to our graduating seniors, auctioned at our annual auction, and sent to Lutheran World Relief for worldwide distribution.

God's Work Our Hands

On a Sunday in June, we as a congregation serve our community in ways that share the love of God with all people. After a brief worship service and lunch we divide up into teams and spread out over the Valley working on specific projects. We then report back to Mt. Zion, report on each team's activities, and eat ice cream.
This is one of everyone's favorite events.
